Impressions of Sweden (cont.)

A few other impressions I forgot to mention before...

** It was strangely odd to not be afraid of the water. It was so exciting to drink the tap water. Some public restrooms have cup dispensers so people can have a glass of water! Crazy! The kids love it, after they brush their teeth they drink from the faucet and giggle!

** It was strange to be in vehicles that drive on the right side of the road again, although I became accustomed to it quickly. Crossing the street with right side drive was easy too because that's what I'm used to and the traffic here is so CIVILIZED!! Cars actually stop for pedestrians. It's actually the bicyclists you have to watch out for.

** It's funny to hear teenage "hoodlums" speaking Swedish. Swedish has such a nice rhythm to it, it doesn't take to being too Gangster.

We've been here since July 1st - 5 weeks. Although we've been a bit homesick, mostly because we have a family member missing and it's hard living out of suitcases, I'm really sad about leaving Sweden on Monday. Today was our last day visiting Uppsala and it was bittersweet. We made sure to have one last varm korv on the street and later in the afternoon we had Princess Torta and strong coffee at Landings while sitting at an outside table on a beautiful afternoon people watching. I expressed my sadness to the kids but they didn't understand.

Monday, August 10 we leave for Berlin. We'll take a train from Uppsala to Stockholm then from Stockholm to Malmo (5 hours) then we have a bit of layover and then we're in a private sleeping cabin for the ride to Berlin. We'll wake up on the 11th in Berlin!

Auf Wiedersehen!!
