Anniversary Urli
Today I was thinking how I'd like some fresh flowers on the occasion of our 12th Wedding Anniversary and how I'd have to remember to go by a flower shop. Not 30 minutes later a local flower vendor came by on his scooter. I don't usually buy flowers from him so he usually drives past my house, but today he stopped and rang my bell. (Hmmm..??)
I bought a bouquet and asked him to do my Urli as well. Very nice...

Happy Birthday to me...
I am so far behind on the blog, I have lots of updates from last week but today will be another day with no updates. I am preparing my Venezuelan national dish for my birthday dinner. We will have a party with 10 friends tonight.
While growing up I often asked my Dad to make this meal for my birthday, so it will be like having family around.
It's such a treat to have "exotic" food that isn't Indian...
And to be surrounded by friends on my birthday, who could ask for anything more??

I wish I could take credit for this display, but a door-to-door flower peddler did this in an effort to get me to buy some flowers (it worked).

Urli
When I change the water, I destroy all the mosquito egg sacks that have been laid overnight. I feel like I'm doing my small part to keep the mosquito population down. :-) While making the world a more beautiful place.

My Urli
An Urli is a traditional cooking pot made from cast bronze. In Southern India they have been used for centuries for floating flowers or as shallow planters to decorate courtyards, patios and temples.
Most of the Urlis I have found start at Rps. 4,000/ ($100) and can go into the thousands of dollars, mine is a regular stainless steel cooking pot I bought for Rps. 200/ ($4.75).
All of the flowers here at Ozone make it easy to decorate. I keep it right outside our front door to say "Welcome."
I love it. :-)
